Ordination Legal FAQS

ARE ONLINE ORDINATIONS LEGAL?

The simple and short answer answer is yes.

Under protection of the 1st Amendment a religious organization may chose who to ordain.

However, there are some rules we must follow along with you.  One must use their full legal name. No fictitious names may be used. We must keep a register of your ordination with your current information.  We can not simply, grant you a computerized / instant ordination (We must review your information by human form, enter it into our database, and issue you an ordination)

Will I BE ABLE TO PREFORM WEDDINGS? / CAN I BE ORDAINED JUST FOR WEDDINGS?

Yes!

Again, however some states may have some legal requirements you must follow.  Such as registering a copy of your ordination prior to preforming a wedding. Age requirements on who may officiate a wedding. Certain time frame on when to turn in a marriage license by. and so on. Please check with your state, prior to preforming a wedding to see what they may require.

MY FRIEND / FAMILY MEMBER WANTS TO OFFICIATE MY WEDDING. CAN I SIGN THEM UP?

NO! They must personally apply for ordination themselves.

WHY CAN'T I USE MY NICKNAME?

Ordination is not only a spiritual thing, but also a legal thing in most states. Especially when it comes to signing legal documents, such as a marriage license. This is why we require your Full Legal Name, and should you legally change it an update of such.
